A Multi Grade Filter or Pressure Sand Filter consists of vertical filters that contain multiple layers of coarse and fine sand (pebbles and gravels) in a fixed proportion. It is a kind of deep filter bed with adequate pore dimensions for retaining both large and small suspended solids (25 - 50 ppm) and un-dissolved impurities like dust particles. It is a low cost pre-treatment for ion exchangers and membrane systems from physical fouling due to suspended impurities present in the water with high throughputs, high dirt-holding capacity and capacity to reduce turbidity and TSS (< 5 ppm) from water.
The filtration medium comprises of multiple layers of sand having different sizes & gravity. It consists of a pressure vessel either vertical or horizontal, with a set of frontal pipe work and valves, graded silica quartz sand supported by layers of graded under bed consisting of pebbles and gravels, a top distributor to distribute the incoming water uniformly throughout the cross section of the filter, and an under drain system to uniformly collect the filtered water.
Activated Carbon Filter is used for removal of free chlorine, organic compounds, odour & color from water. It is also utilized in pre-treatment for RO Water plant and DM Plant as the treated water keeps these systems safe from oxidation or organic fouling. Activated Carbon Filter works on the principle of adsorption, filter medium adsorbs or reacts with a pollutant molecules then filtered water is drained out. Activated Carbon Filters consist of Activated carbon granules supported by very fine quartz filter media.
Cartridge filtration units generally operate most effectively and economically on applications having contamination levels of less than 100 ppm. For heavier contamination applications, cartridges are normally used as final polishing filters.
A vapor–liquid separator is a device used in several industrial applications to separate a vapor–liquid mixture. A vapor–liquid separator may also be referred to as a Flash Drum, Breakpot, Knock-out drum, Knock-out pot, Compressor suction drum or Compressor Inlet Drum. Generally, gravity is utilized in a vertical vessel to cause the liquid to settle to the bottom of the vessel, where it is withdrawn.
A bag filter is an air pollution control device that removes particulates out of air or gas released from commercial processes or combustion for electricity generation. Power plants, steel mills, pharmaceutical producers, food manufacturers, chemical producers and other industrial companies often use bag filters to control emission of air pollutants.
Bag Filters are classified by the cleaning method used: Mechanical shakers, Reverse gas and Pulse jet
Cyclonic separation is a method of removing solid particulates from an air or gas stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. The flow stream enters the body of the separator tangentially through the inlet at the top & it begins to swirl due to the circular design of the chamber until it reaches the bottom. Materials that are denser than the carrier medium are separated from the stream during this downward flow and can be removed through the outlet at the bottom of the cone. The purified air flow is directed from the bottom up and is discharged via an exhaust pipe to the outlet air duct. Rotational effects and gravity are used to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. The method can also be used to separate fine droplets of liquid from a gaseous stream.
